Open Country Dairy (OCD) is a leading player in the New Zealand Dairy Industry. OCD has become the second largest global exporter of premium Whole Milk Powders, proudly exporting worldwide since 2004.

OCD has manufacturing plants in Awarua, Wanganui, Waharoa and Horotiu. From the milk supply provided by New Zealand farmers – OCD makes not only Milk Powders but Milk Proteins, Milk Fats and Cheeses.

OCD’s products are valued for their quality around the world, especially by international producers of fine food and beverages.

OCD produces over 300,000 metric tons of finished goods annually and distributes globally to 70+ countries.

The Challenge

Delivering to their customers on time and in specification is most important for OCD. Many of their products are used for manufacturing food, beverage, and nutritional applications.

Having an easy-to-use export documentation service helps to ensure OCD is efficient in delivery to all its markets. The seamless transfer of digital documentation at the destination country assists the process, mitigating any delays due to errors with paperwork.

The Solution

OCD has been a long-time customer of TradeWindow Prodoc (Prodoc) and has moved through iterations of the software over the years, always commending how easy the training is. OCD has appreciated using an efficient solution to help the flow of their exporting processes.

Using Prodoc to generate export documents enables OCD to have accurate data sent to their customers without any risk of errors. This is especially important for commonly used documents like MPI Certificates or Certificates of Origin.

The Outcomes

For OCD, Prodoc has resolved the issue of raising EDI for Certificates of Origin, SLI’s, Health and Halal Certificates.

Every country has its own specific importing regulations – OCD has found that using digital documentation has helped in many instances, however this can be subject to the capabilities of what customers are able to receive and use, which they note is changing and advancing all the time.

OCD hopes to influence customers to ‘go digital’ like they have, Anka says her team continues to see benefits of having secure and trusted data thanks to Prodoc.
