ANZCO
Overview
ANZCO Foods is a dynamic multinational company and one of New Zealand’s largest exporters, with sales of $1.7 billion annually and customers in more than 80 countries.
The diversity of ANZCOs products, from high-quality beef and lamb to its healthcare division, means that shipping requirements for its frozen, chilled, dry, and specialised products can be complex, with multiple layers of documentation required.
The ANZCO Documents team adopted TradeWindow Prodoc in April 2021 and have been using TradeWindow Cube since November 2021, with both solutions resulting in increased efficiencies, time savings, and satisfied customers.

The challenge
ANZCO prides itself on always being compliant when it comes to trade documentation. The number of documents required to support the export of its diverse product offering to different key markets – including Japan, China, the USA, countries within the European Union, and the United Kingdom – are vast. Prior to having a digital solution in place, it was extremely time-consuming for the ANZCO team to complete the documentation, with lots of room for error given the manual processing that was involved.
ANZCO had to look at changing the way it worked – and Covid-19 provided the push needed to move quickly. The challenge was to find a way for ANZCO to complete all the required documentation and remain compliant, with less manual input from employees – while still meeting its increasing global demand.
ANZCO Foods Document Manager, Leigh-Anne Furby, describes how it no longer made business sense for ANZCO to work using older, paper-based methods in the wake of Covid-19.
The solution
ANZCO’s New Zealand operations commenced using TradeWindow Prodoc in April 2021, shortly followed by TradeWindow Cube and TradeWindow Origin in November 2021.
“The range of solutions TradeWindow had on offer was amazing. I had known about Prodoc for a few years prior to ANZCO adopting the solution and was aware of its system capabilities, but something that really stood out to me was the amount of EDI integrations that are part of TradeWindow Prodoc”, says Leigh-Anne.
The outcomes
Prior to introducing TradeWindow’s solutions into ANZCO Food’s New Zealand operations, the business was struggling to keep up with the workload required to get its products to market.
“It was chaos”, says Leigh-Anne, referring to ANZCO’s documentation processes prior to implementing TradeWindow Prodoc and TradeWindow Cube.
“There was a lot of confusion within the team before we introduced TradeWindow’s solutions – we had to try and bring calm to the storm by rethinking our processes and introducing a digital solution”.
ANZCO conducted a time study pre- and post- TradeWindow Prodoc implementation and found a 63.4% productivity increase, with documentation that would take more than 45 minutes to complete pre-Prodoc now taking just 11 minutes per shipment.
After the TradeWindow Cube implementation, ANZCO was able to significantly cut down the time spent on documentation, reducing the email load by 40 – 50 emails per day due to the ability for documents to be automatically uploaded to Cube’s secure platform. This automation has also resulted in increased visibility for staff, who can now log in to the Cube system at any time and from anywhere – with no time difference issues – to find out at exactly which part of the export process a particular set of documents is sitting in.
” TradeWindow Cube is a brilliant platform that has made it easier and more time efficient for our internal offices to process vast amounts of trade documentation”
– Leigh-Anne
Before implementing TradeWindow Origin, TradeWindow’s data driven platform for digital Certificates of Origin, it could take up to 24 hours to generate a Certificate. Using TradeWindow Origin has meant that these certificates can now be generated for ANZCO’s customers within 20 seconds.
“Customers love it – they now have the original certificates within seconds of approval. It’s drastically cut down the waiting time for them”, says Leigh-Anne.
“The feedback we have received from our own customers has been phenomenal. Implementing TradeWindow Prodoc, TradeWindow Cube, and TradeWindow Origin has been a positive journey for us, and the results speak for themselves”
-Leigh-Anne.
“Essentially, we now have a faster turnaround time, less errors, and our customers get their documents faster”.
“What we’re trying to do is achieve full traceability of our products for our customers. To be able to create that level of trust is integral to our business – specifically dealing with food and healthcare products. The QR code trial is an exciting challenge – the introduction of the QR codes gives customers an increased level of confidence in our products”, says Leigh-Anne.
“We believe we have a very strong partnership with TradeWindow and in the way we work together to constantly improve and expand the TradeWindow solutions we use – it’s just onwards and upwards from here”.
ANZCO is now rolling out TradeWindow Cube to all its offices worldwide, which will help the business to create a network through the platform.
